Garden of Eden

Bible Reading: Genesis 2:4-9

Memory Verse: Genesis 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”

If you could create your own world, what would it look like? Would you invent new animals and weird fruits? God created everything in the universe just by speaking. How did he think up the camel and the anteater? He created a perfect world with nothing bad in it.

God made Adam special.  Instead of speaking, He created a man from the ground  with His hands and breathed into it.  Adam became a living person. God and Adam had a close friendship as the Creator and the Creation.

Adam was made in God’s image. As God ruled the universe, Adam would rule over the earth. In Eden, there was no crime, no sickness or sadness. God made a perfect world without sin and death.

God gave Adam one rule.  “Don’t eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. ”  He could eat from any tree but that one.

God brought each animal in  front of Adam. Everything from the tiny mouse to the ferocious lion to the great whale. Adam named each animal. God gave man the job of taking care of the earth.

After Adam had named all the animals, God gave him a special gift. He caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. He took out one of Adam’s ribs and he made the rib into a woman, named Eve, and gave her to Adam.

Adam and Eve lived in a perfect world, God’s creation.

What do you think?

What do you think the best thing about living in the garden of Eden?

How different would the world be, if there was no sin?

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you for the beautiful world that you created.  Thank you for your great care for us. Help me to honor you and be faithful in all you’ve given. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
