Before You Were Born

Bible Reading:  Jeremiah 1:4-19

Memory Verse  “Oh Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.” Psalm 139:1

Devo

Jeremiah was the son of a priest. One day God spoke to him.

“Before I created you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were even born, I set you apart to be a prophet to the nations.”

This scared Jeremiah.  “B.. b.. but I’m a terrible speaker.  I’m just a child.”

“Don’t say, “I’m just a child. Where I send you, you must go. What I tell you, you must say.”

Then the Lord touched Jeremiah’s mouth. He gave him a vision.

“What do you see, Jeremiah?”

“I see a pot boiling over from the north,” he said.

“That’s right. My people are so rebellious, that I’m sending tribes from the north to invade their country. Judah has turned to other gods and are living in sin. I am going to judge the people.  They aren’t going to like your words, but you must not be afraid of them.

God didn’t believe Jeremiah was too young.  He made Jeremiah for this purpose.  God has a plan for you too.  You will need His help, but don’t be afraid to obey the One who designed you.

What about you?

Do you ever feel too young to do something important?

What tools or abilities has God given you to do something for Him?

Prayer:

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that you know everything about me.  Please show me why you created me, and help me to follow you.  In Jesus name, Amen.
