Memory Verse:  Genesis 1:1  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

What was the latest thing you created?  Have you ever thought that everything you created, God made first.  I used Legos to tell this story, but those bricks were made from things in the earth.  I borrowed God’s creation to make my own creations.

God created simply by speaking what was in His mind. When He spoke, those things in his imagination came to existence.  Let’s look at the fourth day of creation.

God commanded lights to be formed in the sky, the sun, the moon and the stars.  The sun would rule the day and the moon at night.

On the fifth day, God commanded the oceans to be filled with living creatures and fish.  He commanded birds to fly above the earth.  He created the penguin too, a bird that swims like a fish. He blessed these animals and told them to fill the seas and the earth.

On the sixth day, God made the land animals.  He made the tame animals, like the cows, and wild ones like lions and elephants.  He made the creeping things like snakes and spiders.  Each living thing was made, male and female, so that they could fill the earth.  God saw that it was good.

We were made in the image of a Creative God. That means we have imagination and creativity too. When you make up a song or create a story with your toys, you are reflecting a God with an even greater imagination.

How about you?

Do you use your imagination to glorify God?

What kind of things can you to with your creativity to point people to God?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for your amazing imagination.  Thank you that I am made like my Father. Give me great ideas on how to live in this earth and show your glory.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
